The Caravan Stage Society Inc. has a most unique theatre venue – a 30 meter tall ship, the Caravan Stage Tall Ship Theatre. After 27 years of touring contemporary professional theatre the Caravan now tours its innovative theatrical productions on to the deck of the Amara Zee, a unique Ship Theatre. In the summer of 2013, after sailing and performing in Europe from 2005 to 2013 the Caravan has returned to North America to continue sailing in the US and Canadian rivers, lakes, seacoast and waterways.
I was honored to be their tour coordinator for Montenegro, Croatia and Italy tour back in 2010. In a period of 6 months I was organizing work conditions for 40 people, tour booking, haggling for supplies/tech equipment/production & living spaces. We performed the show “Command Performance” all along the beautiful Croatian coast in towns like Hvar, Šibenik, Zadar, Trogir and Umag to name only a few. Pinnacle of the production period was surely “Kotor Run” event where John Popkin and myself went for a 11km jog from Tivat to Kotor (Montenegro) following a flatbed truck overstuffed with other Caravaners. We even blocked the single road leading to Kotor for 20 minutes!
With the Caravan I felt alive every single day since they are a perfect blend of emotion and professionalism. I will never forget them.
